LED Luks commitment to sustainability

In simple terms, we try to manufacture the most efficient modular technical ambient luminaires possible, we use high quality materials to ensure extended product lifecycles, we chose environmentally responsible suppliers, we work to reduce our energy consumption in our manufacturing facility and prioritize the use of renewable energy sources whenever possible. From offer creation, order processing and production to logistics, we are continuously optimising the processes to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible all while delivering the highest value to our customers. We align our sustainability commitments with internationally recognized standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Product development, design and lifecycle

The sustainability of each luminaire is rooted in its design and we believe there are two key aspects that significantly influence the product’s lifecycle: product modularity and component replaceability. Therefore, our skilled in-house product development team incorporates these two aspects at the very beginning of every design process.

Modularity – for a long product lifetime and circular economy

Our products’ design is based on standardized modules, which grants them versatility and adaptability. This modularity enables the replacement and recovery of individual modules and eliminates the need of glues in the assembly process. At the end of the product’s lifecycle, the luminaires can be easily disassembled and their parts recycled.

Component replaceability – reduced waste

Component replaceability minimizes waste generation. Instead of disposing of an entire product, only the specific component that needs replacement is removed. We therefore ensure that our products are engineered in such a way that they can be easily disassembled for repair and only the broken parts replaced.

High quality materials – making products that last

We exclusively opt for high-quality materials and finishes sourced from carefully chosen suppliers within the European Union to ensure the longest possible life of our products.

Product lifespan

Our most popular luminaire ILO Profiles has a rated life of L80 B20 at 100.000 h, Ta=25 °C, which means that 80% of the LED units will maintain at least 80% of their original designed luminous flux for 100.000 h when operating at 25°C.

Our luminaires fall within at least 3-step MacAdams ellipse, which is a measurement used to describe the colour consistency or colour deviation of light emitted by an LED luminaire.

Transparency and sustainability of our supply chain

We carefully select our suppliers based not only on the quality of their materials but taking into consideration their environmental impact as well. Our commitment to safety extends to our luminaires being entirely free from any heavy metals. As a result, no hazardous substances are present, ensuring the well-being of our employees who work with these products.

The European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) offers detailed information on products placed on the EU market and provides information on energy efficiency of these products.

We strive to use natural resources responsibly and work actively to minimise the company’s climate footprint. As a result, we consistently strive to optimize our production and logistics processes to minimize our environmental impact. By adopting a proactive approach, we aim to effectively reduce our overall ecological footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Manufacturing facilities

The inherent nature of our operations allows us to operate with great energy efficiency, as our manufacturing processes entail minimal energy consumption. Nevertheless, we continuously work on providing a greater percentage of electricity that we need from the solar panels installed on the roof of the facility and via green energy from other energy suppliers.

Local subcontractors

We place great importance on fulfilling our social responsibility by working with local businesses within an 80 km radius. By collaborating with them, we not only contribute to the growth and prosperity of our region but we also significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with our operations and facilitate a more environmentally friendly supply chain.

Waste management

Within our manufacturing process, we systematically manage different types of waste in accordance with ISO 14001. As an example, during production, all aluminium scraps are collected and are subsequently sold to a specialized company capable of upcycling them into valuable semi-products. This waste management strategy is a small example of our commitment to reducing waste and embracing circular economy principles.

Packaging

We use environmentally conscious packaging like cardboard boxes, cardboard corner protectors and paper tape to package our products. Our commitment to resource management extends to the reuse of wooden pallets received at our manufacturing facility for the transportation of our own products, thus minimizing waste in the process.
